(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Wednesday, former President Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to blast GOP Senators Mitt Romney (Utah) and John Cornyn (Texas) stating that they would not be able to win their reelections.
Both Romney and Cornyn had been vocal critics of Trump and his approach and behavior on a variety of issues, including the debt ceiling negotiations and the way he handled the COVID-19 pandemic. Romney also voted along with six other GOP senators to have Trump convicted following his second impeachment. He has also pushed other Republicans to donate to the 2024 GOP presidential campaigns of other candidates in order to increase the pressure on Trump.
In his Truth Social post, Trump questioned whether Cornyn or Romney was the worst. He then proceeded to call both of them ineffective and weak and added that even an opponent with modest skill is going to be able to win the next election against them.
Trump had previously criticized Cornyn for participating in the gun safety legislation negotiations claiming that he was a “Republican in Name Only” and that he, along with some other Republicans, was working to take guns away from the American public.
In May, Cornyn announced that he would support an alternative to Trump during a call with Texas reporters. He proceeded to argue that Trump’s time had passed and that the key was making sure that the Republican nominee was someone who could win in the general election in 2024.
