(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Sunday, former President Donald Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to say that it is “great news” that the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) chief counsel Charlie Spies is going to be resigning from his posts only months after taking the role on.
In his post, Trump stated that this was “great news” for the party and that Spies was a RINO. He continued by arguing that he wished him well.
On Saturday, RNC officials confirmed Spies’ departure only around two months after he originally took on the role. His resignation is part of a staffing overhaul that started after Trump became the presumptive Republican nominee for 2024. Spies previously criticized Trump over his unfounded false allegations of widespread fraud in the 2020 election.
RNC spokesperson Danielle Alvarez told The Hill that Spies had reached out to RNC Chief of Staff Chris Lacivita regarding the time commitment conflicts he was facing with this position. She added that while they appreciated Spies’ expertise, he was not currently in a position to fulfill his full-time obligations to the RNC and his law firm, which he has been building for several years.
In the past, Spies worked for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, both of whom have attacked the former President in the past.
In March the RNC announced Spies’ hiring, as well as the hiring of former Trump administration attorney Bill McGinley, and One America News host Christina Bobb who would be focused on ensuring election integrity.
