(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Tuesday, “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg slammed former President Donald Trump arguing that he should be jailed over his remarks about the Social Security benefit program mismanagement.
This week during an appearance on CNBC, Trump was asked if he considered making any changes to Social Security, Medicare, and other “entitlement programs.” In response, he argued that there were a lot of things that they could do when it came to these programs, including when it came to cutting them and also combatting theft and mismanagement in these programs. He proceeded to say that Social Security would be weakened because the United States was weak.
Goldberg argued in response to the clip that they could put Trump in jail for “all your entitlements.” She proceeded to tell the crowd that Social Security was something that people had paid into and that it was not an “entitlement.”
The Social Security Benefit program is technically considered an “entitlement” program, as employers, workers, and self-employed individuals have been paying for the benefits in their Social Security taxes. The taxes collected are then inserted into a special trust fund that acts as a social safety net for the elderly and disabled.
The reason why they are considered to be entitlement programs is because U.S. citizens and their employers pay FICA taxes for several quarters until employees reach a certain age. Once they have done so, they are entitled to receive that benefit.
The Social Security and Medicare Trustees’ recent findings have shown that Social Security retirement funds could run out as early as 2033, whereas earlier projections had shown that they would run out in 2034.
