(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Former President Donald Trump’s first criminal trial in New York is officially underway and many Democrats are hopeful that this will allow them to boost President Biden through campaigning across the country while Trump is made to attend every court session for weeks. This could potentially help boost the democratic candidate ahead of the November election.
Biden is scheduled to spend a big part of this week campaigning in Pennsylvania, while also making a visit to his hometown. However, while Biden is busy campaigning, Trump is going to be stuck in New York for his court battle. Trump is facing a series of legal cases that have boosted him by providing him with free publicity and helping rally his supporters.
Since the start of the legal cases against him, Trump has argued that this was a political witch hunt and has established with his base that the justice system is corrupt in prosecuting him and that he is a martyr. Despite this position, the Democrats are hopeful that with Trump now stuck in court every day there could potentially be a different outcome for the presumptive Republican nominee.
Former President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign manager Jim Messina pointed out that twice in the past Trump had lost the popular vote and that there was currently a lot of ground that he would need to make up in order to win after losing the previous presidential election. He added that this would be particularly hard as he would need to win over swing voters while coverage would be focused on Trump campaigning from within a courtroom.
