(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – In an interview set to be released on Sunday with “Face the Nation” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) revealed that he had given his apology to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for having delayed providing additional foreign aid to the embattled country.

He added that going back to the start of the administration, he had worked hard to ensure that they would get the necessary votes from the GOP for the supplemental requests. McConnell claimed that this had all started after the Afghanistan withdrawal, which he argued was like sending a green light across the world that the United States was going home.

He continued, stating that these delays did not start during this administration and that even during the Biden administration they had sent meals following the 2014 invasion of Crimea. Though appreciated, meals are not a way to defend oneself.

Host Margaret Brennan had asked McConnell more about his apology and questioned whether he was apologizing for the House GOP as there were no delays in the Senate. McConnell then claimed that the delay actually was in the Senate; they had spent four months grappling with the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border. He pointed out that for any law to pass, they would need the help of the Democrats, as they had control of the White House and Senate. He added that the Republican nominee appears more willing to provide help in a timely manner.
