(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Former President Donald Trump has criticized Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for not taking a stance in the historic impeachment of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

On Saturday, the state House of Representatives voted to impeach Paxton on 20 articles, including bribery and abuse of public trust. Following the vote, Paxton was suspended from office as he awaited trial in the Senate. Both the House and the Senate are controlled by the Republicans.

Following this decision, Abbott had to appoint a replacement to serve in the interim, as they await for the trial to be scheduled. This is a position that Abbott had previously held until 2015 when Paxton took over. The Texas governor has not made any comments about the impeachment thus far.

Trump has criticized this stance by taking to his Truth Social platform to write that Abbott was “MISSING IN ACTION!” He proceeded to question where Abbott was while Paxton was being impeached.

In an earlier post, Trump had also stated that he would oppose all those who voted in favor of Paxton being impeached, and even attacked Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, whom he claimed was “barely a Republican at all.”

Paxton has been a strong ally of Trump’s for years, and following the 2020 presidential elections had been one of the people who had urged the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the presidential election results in favor of Trump. In his own statement, Paxton claimed that the impeachment charges were not “fair or just” and argued that this entire plot against him was “politically motivated.”
