(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Thursday, former President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser Retired Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster warned during an interview that several nations, including the United Kingdom and the United States, are on the brink of World War III.
McMaster argued during a recent interview with LBC Radio’s Andrew Marr that defense spending in both the United States and the United Kingdom needed to increase to 4 percent of each country’s gross domestic product respectively. This would be double the current requirement by NATO. He also claimed that they needed to invest in missile defense systems that resembled the Iron Dome of Israel in order to address the increasing crises.
McMaster, 61, argued that they might be on the brink of another World War, and while he knew that sounded dramatic it is important for them to seriously consider the possibility so that they can take action and prevent it from happening.
As he pointed out, the Iron Dome’s capabilities were important, but to defeat the hypersonic missiles, they needed to be looking at beating them during the boost phase or by preempting their launch. He added that the proposed increase in defense spending would still have the rates at a historically low level when compared to the Cold War levels of spending. As he noted, the most important thing is prevention rather than confrontation.
McMaster argued that it was much cheaper to prevent a war than to fight one. He added that currently there is a big gap in the country’s defense, industrial base, and services. He pointed out that there is also a “bow wave of deferred modernization.”
