(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Former President Donald Trump’s youngest son Barron Trump has declined the option of being one of the Florida delegates at the Republican National Convention (RNC).

In a statement released by former first lady Melania Trump’s office it is noted that while Barron is honored to have been selected by the Florida Republican party, he is “regretfully” declining the offer because of prior commitments.

Earlier this week the Florida GOP had stated that 18-year-old Barron Trump would join his three siblings, Donald Trump Jr., Eric, and Tiffany, as delegates for the state. Eric Trump specifically is the state’s delegation chair.

If Barron Trump had accepted, this would have been his first time getting involved in politics in the public spotlight. Barron was only 10 years old when his father Donald Trump was first elected in 2016. Throughout the first Trump administration, he had been widely kept out of the spotlight. He is the only child of Melania and Donald Trump and the youngest son of the former President.

On Friday during an interview on Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, Trump claimed that his youngest son had gotten into politics and he liked it. He added that it was kind of funny because sometimes his youngest son would tell him what to do. Trump pointed out that his son would now finish high school and go off to college, praising Barron for being a “good guy.”
