(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana remained noncommittal on the topic of initiating an impeachment vote against President Biden during a House GOP retreat in West Virginia. When questioned about the likelihood of an impeachment proceeding during this Congress, Johnson indicated that further information was needed before deciding on such a significant legislative action.
He emphasized that the ongoing impeachment inquiry and associated investigations are still in progress, noting that certain requested information has yet to be received. Johnson stated that the legislative committees involved would continue their work, assessing all gathered data before reaching any conclusions.
In a later discussion with Josh Christenson from the New York Post, Johnson mentioned that the decision-making process would follow the committees’ full receipt and evaluation of the necessary information. He criticized Hunter Biden and James Biden, the president’s son and brother, respectively, for what he perceived as deceptive testimony during their private depositions, where they denied the president’s involvement in their business activities.
Johnson expressed skepticism about the veracity of the Bidens’ statements, suggesting that other evidence, including bank records and whistleblower accounts, contradicted their testimony. He highlighted the gravity of the situation and underscored the constitutional obligation to conclude the impeachment inquiry process concerning the president.
The Republican-led impeachment investigation into Biden has been ongoing for several months, primarily focusing on Hunter Biden’s foreign business transactions. Despite extensive efforts, Republicans have yet to find concrete evidence of the president’s involvement in any criminal activity or misconduct.
The lack of conclusive evidence became more apparent following the confidential testimonies of Hunter Biden and James Biden, which did not produce the decisive evidence Republicans hoped to find to support their claims.
Nonetheless, the GOP continues its probe, with the House Oversight and Accountability Committee planning a hearing titled “Influence Peddling: Examining Joe Biden’s Abuse of Public Office.” While Hunter Biden declined to participate in this public hearing, other associates linked to the Biden family’s business dealings have been invited to testify.
Johnson defended the measured pace of the impeachment inquiry, advocating for a thorough and careful approach given the constitutional significance of such proceedings. He admitted that his other duties as Speaker have prevented him from delving deeply into the evidence collected by House GOP investigators.
