(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – House Speaker, Republican Mike Johnson (LA) dismissed the idea that fellow Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) could force a vote to oust him as Speaker.
He made the statements on The Hill’s “NewsNation,” when asked if Greene was a “serious lawmaker.” In response to the question, Johnson stated that he didn’t “think she is proving to be.”
However, Johnson noted that he didn’t “spend… time thinking about her,” and instead focused on doing his job.
His disregard for Greene’s threats Tuesday night comes ahead of a scheduled news conference Greene called for Wednesday morning.
Greene is expected to address the motion to vacate she filed against Johnson in March, following the House Speaker’s decision to champion more aid to Ukraine.
However, Greene’s threats have gained much ground in the House, where the GOP holds a slim majority. Her opportunity for success was stifled when Democratic leaders announced on Tuesday that they would use their votes to shield Johnson, the second GOP House Speaker since Republicans gained a majority, from being ousted.
Their remarks prompted Greene to vow she would bring her resolution to the floor in a post on social media platform on X.
The Georgia Republican stated her belief in “recorded votes” as it revealed to the American public “the truth and provides transparency.”
Greene has a long-held belief that Johnson is working alongside Democrats in a “Uniparty,” a belief she also held about former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was ousted seven months ago.
However, Johnson has made every attempt to rubbish Greene’s claims, revealing in the interview that he would continue with the “conservative agenda.”
