On Tuesday, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (R) said that in her opinion Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) should “stay governor” for now. Many are speculating that DeSantis is preparing to place a bid for the White House in 2024.

In an interview with Newsmax, Palin said that DeSantis “doesn’t need to” run. She added that she believes he will eventually be the President, but that does not need to happen right now. Instead, he should remain the governor for the time being, as he still has decades ahead of him to become the President.

While DeSantis has not yet announced that he will be running in 2024, he is widely believed to be the biggest competition that former President Trump has to face for the GOP’s presidential nomination.
A Monmouth University poll recently even had Trump and DeSantis tied among Republican voters for the party’s nomination. Still, Palin remains confident that Trump has great prospects for 2024.

She did add that she believes in healthy competition – a good primary will help them articulate debates, and everyone will work harder on their messaging regarding their vision for the country. She continued to say that it took “a lot of guts” to go against Trump in 2024.

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R) is currently the only major Republican to have officially challenged Trump for the Republican primary. However, according to that same Monmouth poll, Haley only has 1 percent of the GOP’s support.
