Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has been facing many attacks as he is preparing to potentially launch his presidential campaign this week.

Over the weekend, the NAACP, a liberal civil rights organization, issued a travel advisory for those who are visiting the Republican governor’s state. In it, they warn tourists about the laws and policies that DeSantis and the Florida legislature – which is currently run by a GOP-supermajority – have introduced, attacking people of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

This advisory is widely perceived to be another attempt from the left to ostracize and boycott government states, organizations, and companies that oppose woke ESG and other “inclusion” policies.

DeSantis responded to the advisory in a speech on Sunday where he called it a “joke.” He proceeded to state that time will tell how effective it is going to be. He added that during COVID-19 those same people who had attacked the state for being open had ended up taking vacations in Florida The crowd also chuckled with DeSantis’ assessment. DeSantis then noted that this entire thing was “ridiculous.”

Many are trying to attack DeSantis by advising against tourism in his state. Tourism is one of the most revenue generators for Florida’s coffers. DeSantis has also spoken about the importance of tourism in Florida, stating that he was proud that his state had been leading the tourism industry across the nation for several years.

DeSantis also called the advisory issue a “stunt” and added that if people want to waste their time on this stunt it is fine.
