House Democrats are trying to undercut an Oversight Committee probe looking into the classified documents that were discovered in President Biden’s possession that date back to his time as vice president. The Democrats are accusing the GOP of trying to build a false narrative and are trying to push “racist conspiracy theories.”

A memo from the panel’s Democrats shows that Biden’s former secretary, Kathy Chung, was unaware of the classified documents, as she had not seen any classified cover sheet while packing Biden’s documents into the boxes. The boxes for the most part were filled with personal documents and letters, as well as some of the documents relating to Biden’s passion projects such as the now-revived Cancer Moonshot.

In the released memo, the Democrats also point out that committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY), was trying to perpetuate “racist conspiracy theories” which are not true by attempting to misrepresent Chung’s testimony. One of Comer’s unfounded accusations includes alleging that Chung, who was born in South Korea, is connected to Hunter Biden and the Chinese Communist Party.

Chung in her testimony spoke about her involvement in packing the documents while reaffirming that no members of the Biden family were in any way involved with the packing. In the four-hour interview with lawmakers, Chung had also reaffirmed that she did not know that there had been any classified documents packed in the boxes.

House Republicans are looking into the handling of the classified documents found in Biden’s former office in Washington, D.C., and at his home in Wilmington, Del., in late 2022 and early 2023.

Special counsel Jack Smith is also handling a probe into the classified documents found in his Mar-a-Lago estate.
