(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – In light of recent tensions between Hamas and Israel, Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, revealed plans to bolster security measures at religious venues within the state.

Announcing a $10 million fund, Newsom intends to augment police patrolling around worship centers. Further, another $20 million will be channeled into the California State Nonprofit Security Grant Program. This initiative aims to support nonprofit entities prone to violent threats and hate-related incidents by financing security improvements like sturdy doors, gates, lighting systems, alarm setups, and controlled access to worship sites. The scheme also emphasizes the importance of being prepared for emergencies.

Religious bodies have a window until October 27th to register for this program.

The initial $10 million is also meant to compensate local police forces for additional hours dedicated to guarding religious establishments and venues. Moreover, the state is geared up to offset the extra expenses borne by local administrations to ensure that inhabitants feel secure in their localities. This monetary support will be managed by the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services.

Amidst the tragic events occurring in the Middle East, especially the terrorist-led assaults in Israel, Newsom declared that California is promptly allocating funds to amplify security at worship spots throughout the state. He stressed that every resident, regardless of their prayer practices, has the right to safety.

Simultaneously, FBI’s head, Christopher Wray, voiced concerns about potential domestic repercussions stemming from the Middle Eastern clashes. During a recent interview with Fox News, Wray stated that they are on high alert for solitary individuals within the U.S. who might act based on the tumultuous situation in the Middle East. He emphasized the Bureau’s continuous efforts in updating its intelligence and reassessing previous evaluations to foresee and counter potential threats.

A fortnight ago, Hamas, labeled a terrorist group by the U.S., instigated an attack on Israel resulting in the death of around 1,400 individuals, predominantly civilians. Israel retaliated with strikes on Gaza, a Hamas-dominated territory, leading to over 3,000 casualties. The U.S. has voiced its support for Israel’s right to defend itself while also urging measures to safeguard non-combatants.
