The latest Gallup poll shows that Biden’s job approval is currently at 40%. This is at a time when Biden is facing a lot of pressure domestically, with inflation rates remaining high and the recent banking crisis leading to insecurity about the economy. Biden is also facing challenges internationally from Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran.

This is the sixth consecutive Gallup poll in which Biden’s approval rating has been in the 40’s with his highest rating being 42%. However, his approval rating in certain categories is lower than that of 40%. Specifically, in regard to his energy policy his approval rating is 38 percent, in foreign affairs it is 38% and, in the economy, it is 32%.

Biden has also received particularly low approval ratings in his handling of the U.S. economy with only 32% of voters approving of the work that he is going to do. 67%, on the other hand, disapprove of his handling of the economy, and 1% had no comment.

Democrats also give Biden much higher approval ratings than Republicans and independents. His approval rating with the independents has also dropped in this last poll to only 35%. In contrast, 87% of Democrats approve of his performance. Since August 2021, his approval rating among Republicans has always been below 8%, with his latest rating at only 3%.

At the start of his presidency, Biden’s rates with independents had been at around 61%, but they have since dropped to just 35%.
