(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Tuesday, the House GOP and 14 Democrats passed a non-binding resolution that condemned the immigration policies followed by President Joe Biden.
The resolution specifically called out Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and blasted Biden for his refusal to use executive action on the border. Rep. Monica De La Cruz (R-TX) had introduced the resolution which passed 226-193.
This is the second time that the GOP has passed a resolution that criticizes the Biden administration over the border crisis. To pass the resolution, they had the assistance of 14 Democrats, including the 11 who had voted along with the Republican lawmakers on Tuesday.
On January 17th, GOP lawmakers and that group of Democrats had in a 225-187 vote denounced the “open-borders policies” followed by the Biden administration.
De La Cruz’s resolution had been introduced on the same day as the State of the Union address, which had caused many GOP members to argue that President Biden was “blame shifting.” Following the speech, De La Cruz delivered a rebuttal in Spanish against the State of the Union speech.
In her statement, she argued that this resolution further showcased the importance of the Biden administration making decisions that would help address the border crisis. She added that they were urging the administration to immediately start using all authorities available to them to safeguard the interests of the American people and take control of the situation.
On the same day as the vote, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), who voted in favor of the resolution, launched the Democrats for Border Security Task Force, an advisory group focused on border security.
