(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Monday, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) claimed that his constituents had issued an ultimatum: for the border to be secured, or the government to shut down.
In an appearance on Fox News’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” Roy argued that they did not need to be thinking about providing more aid to Ukraine and that instead, the focus needed to be on making changes to the United States southern border. He added that while he did not mean to “rattle about shutdown for the sake of it” his constituents still believed that either the southern border or the government would need to be shut down for President Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to take action and do their job.
Last week, Roy suggested that conservative lawmakers needed to take action to force the Bidena administration to accept their demands about the southern border. However, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) attempted to state over the weekend that Roy had not actually meant to threaten a shutdown with his recent comments.
On Monday, Roy argued that Texas has had to take action to “defend” its border. He argued that they have been spending state funds to do what the federal government was meant to do. He added that this was the time for them to take action and argued that they should not be funding the government unless there is a change in the situation.
