(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Law enforcement officers, on Thursday, detained a man in the neighborhood of Washington, D.C., once resided by former President Barack Obama. This individual was allegedly carrying materials for creating explosives and was wanted for his connection to the events of January 6th, as reported by various informed individuals.
The suspect, identified by numerous sources as Taylor Taranto, a 37-year-old man from Seattle, Washington, was noticed by the Secret Service within proximity of Obama’s former residence, as stated by a senior law enforcement representative. Upon detection, Taranto tried to escape, moving towards the Obamas’ home, but was intercepted before he could reach his destination.
The van Taranto was using was found near the site of his arrest. Inside the vehicle, several weapons and components for manufacturing an explosive device similar to a Molotov cocktail were discovered. Although Taranto claimed to possess explosives, responders only located the raw materials for their creation, as per law enforcement officials privy to the investigation.
There were apprehensions among U.S. officials regarding Taranto due to his recent social media livestreams where he had threatened a public figure. Additionally, he had an outstanding warrant for charges related to the January 6th, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. His presence in the vicinity of Obama’s neighborhood was not an accident, pointed out a U.S. official.
A high-ranking law enforcement official indicated that Taranto had been in the Washington, D.C., region for several weeks. He was noticed living in his van near the D.C. prison that currently houses many defendants from the January 6th incident. Several of his livestreams seemed to have been broadcasted from the D.C. area.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Taranto has been formally accused of evading justice.
The episode did not lead to any injuries. It is yet unknown whether the Obamas were present in their house when the incident occurred.
