(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Tuesday former President Donald Trump blasted the Department of Justice over their investigation looking into his attempts to overturn the presidential election results in 2020 and stay in power. Only hours before this speech, Trump had revealed on Truth Social that he was the target of the investigation.
Trump revealed to Fox News’s Sean Hannity in a town hall in Iowa that he was upset about the timing of the letter. HE added that he was being targeted because he was the frontrunner in the Republican presidential primary race.
Trump stated that it not only bothered him personally but also everyone else. He added that he received the letter on Sunday night, which he did not think they have ever done before, but because they are in a rush and are trying to interfere with the election they still did it.
Trump insisted that never in U.S. history has something like this occurred and that it is a “disgrace.” As he continued on to say, the Department of Justice has been completely weaponized by the Democrats. He also directly slammed special counsel Jack Smith who is overseeing the two probes on Trump. This includes the case about his attempts to overturn the presidential election, as well as a case relating to his possible mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House in 2021. Trump has already been indicted and has pleaded not guilty in the latter case.
On Tuesday morning, Trump took to Truth Social to state that he had been informed that he was the target of the investigation that the Department of Justice was leading. A letter is perceived to be a sign that there might be charges filed against Trump soon.
