(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Monday, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor stated that she felt frustrated by the conservative justices’ push to bring the United States to the ideological right.

During an appearance at the Berkeley School of Law at the University of California, Sotomayor was asked about how she was handling the consistent conservative rulings of the Supreme Court.

In response to the question, she argued that every loss was traumatic to her but that she continued to get up “the next morning.” The approximately 1,300 students in attendance at the university had applauded her for this statement.

In her remarks, she also slammed her “originalist colleagues” who she has argued have found some creative new ways of interpreting the U.S. Constitution to alter rulings that were believed to be “well established.”

The 6-3 conservative court has had several controversial rulings in the past couple of years, including a ruling to overturn the federal right to an abortion, as well as a ruling that affirmative action in educational institutions was unconstitutional.

However, Sotomayor while speaking to the crowd focused on a message of hope and pushed the students in the crowd to remain encouraged by the changes that they could bring forward. She added that change was not possible on its own and that the only way to bring forward change was through moving the arc “towards justice.” She continued by arguing that there was no other choice but to continue fighting the “good fight.”
