(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Thursday, Virginia lawmakers blasted the Biden administration for choosing to have a new headquarters for the Federal Bureau of Investigation placed in Maryland rather than Virginia.

The decision for where to place the headquarters was a lengthy one and it resulted in the administration looking at three separate locations for the placement of the headquarters. Those were Greenbelt, Maryland, which was selected, as well as Springfield, Virginia, and Landover, Maryland. Prior to this new decision, the headquarters of the FBI had been in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.

Virginia delegation Congress members belonging to both sides, such as Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine expressed their disappointment over this decision which they classified as “tainted.” In their statement, they noted that it was “disappointing” to see the administration make a last-minute change to the criteria that Congress and the General Services Administration had previously decided on last year. They further argued that they have spent years slamming the Trump administration over politicizing the new headquarters of the FBI, only to have the selection process under the Biden administration also be tainted by politics.

The majority of U.S. House Virginia representatives have also put out statements in which they slam the choice arguing that there was political interference. A similar statement was also made by Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin.

As proof for these claims, they pointed out that FBI Director Christopher A. Wray had noted in an internal memo recently that he was concerned about a possible “conflict of interest” related to choosing the site. The group has also claimed that the unanimous recommendation by the GSA to have the headquarters in Virginia was ignored.
