(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Monday, Rep. Joseph Morelle (D-NY) sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland pushing for a probe into a robocall that he claims had imitated the voice of President Biden with the use of artificial intelligence (AI). As he pointed out, the call was pushing for voters to not participate in the Tuesday primary in New Hampshire.

In his letter to the Department of Justice, he stated that he was very concerned about the effect of AI in the upcoming elections. He proceeded to call for an investigation to be launched into the incident which had originally been reported by NBC News. He added that the responsible parties needed to be held accountable for the message that was being distributed ahead of the first-in-the-nation primary in New Hampshire.

Morelle stated that he was hopeful the investigation would help block the further spread of “AI-generated mis-and disinformation” in upcoming elections.

On Monday, the New Hampshire attorney general’s office stated that they had received complaints about a recorded message that had been generated by AI and sounded like the President. As they explained, the calls seem to be part of an unlawful attempt to disrupt the primary in the state as voters are called to cast their ballots in one of the first major contests in the 2024 election. They have further called for voters to ignore the message and to report any information they have related to the incident.

In the letter, Morelle argued that this was a clear attempt to interfere with the primary election and that it needed to be thoroughly investigated.
