(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – A federal judge in Delaware has ruled against dismissing gun charges against Hunter Biden, rejecting claims from President Biden’s son that he is being targeted for political reasons.

Late last year, Hunter Biden filed several motions alleging that special counsel David Weiss succumbed to political pressure in pursuing the case. However, U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, a Trump appointee, dismissed these arguments in her rulings on Friday. She addressed the defense’s claims of “vindictive prosecution,” the legality of Weiss’s appointment as special counsel, and the relevance of a previously voided plea deal that had offered Biden immunity.

In her decision, Judge Noreika stated that Hunter Biden’s defense team failed to provide substantial evidence that external pressures influenced the special counsel’s decision to indict rather than seek a pretrial diversion. She emphasized that while there may have been pressure from Congressional Republicans, there was no credible indication that such actions impacted the special counsel’s conduct. “It is all speculation,” she wrote.

Hunter Biden was formally charged last September with three gun-related offenses, including two counts of failing to disclose his drug use on firearm purchase forms and one count of possessing a firearm while addicted to a controlled substance. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, following the breakdown of a plea agreement that would have allowed him to plead guilty to two tax offenses while avoiding a gun charge under certain conditions.

Following the collapse of this plea agreement, Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, criticized the Justice Department’s handling of the case, suggesting their decisions were inconsistent. “They either were not clear on what they meant, knew what they meant and misstated it, or they changed their view as they stood in court in Delaware,” Lowell stated in an interview with CBS News.

Lowell also argued that Hunter Biden should still retain immunity agreed upon in the plea deal because he had surrendered “valuable rights” under that agreement.
