(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – A recent NewsNation/Decision Desk HQ News poll found that former President Donald Trump continues to have a comfortable lead in the Republican presidential primary. Around 60 percent of GOP voters noted that they would support Trump in the primary race. Trump also received the support of 21 percent of independent voters in their state’s primary race.
Men were still more likely than women to support Trump, with 35 percent of men supporting Trump, while only 28 percent of women stated the same.
While support for Trump in the primary race continues to be strong, there was also relatively equal support for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, who got 11 and 10 percent support respectively. DeSantis and Haley are competing for second place in the Republican primary race, while conservative businessman Vivek Ramaswamy has received the support of only 6 percent of Republicans. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie remains far behind in the race with only 3 percent support.
The new poll gave former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum no more than 1 percent support each.
When asked who they would support if their first-choice candidate was no longer in the race, 36 percent stated DeSantis, 15 percent Ramaswamy, 14 percent Haley, and finally 11 percent stated they would support Trump.
The results came only a few days before the fourth Republican presidential primary debate. It included 3,200 registered voters and took place from November 26th to the 27th.
