Hot on the heels of former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe’s stunning interview with “60 Minutes,” a conservative watchdog group is filing a lawsuit against the Department of Justice in an attempt to learn more about the astounding coup attempt allegedly masterminded by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and others within the Executive Branch.
Judicial Watch is serving the DOJ with a Freedom of Information Act suit so that the public can be made aware of any documents that might pertain to discussions of wiretapping President Trump or having him removed under the auspices of the 25th Amendment.
“We are seeking all written and audio/visual records of any FBI/DOJ discussions regarding the 25th Amendment and plans to secretly record President Trump in the Oval Office,” said Judicial Watch in a news release. “It is no surprise that we are facing an immense cover-up of senior FBI and DOJ leadership discussions to pursue a seditious coup against President Trump. This effort to overthrow President Trump is a fundamental threat to our constitutional republic so Judicial Watch will do everything it can in the courts to expose everything possible about this lawlessness.”
In his interview with CBS News, McCabe confirmed earlier reports that said Rosenstein had suggested wearing a wire when speaking to the president in the days following James Comey’s firing. Although Rosenstein’s aides have in the past (and continue to this day) dismissed any talk of a wire as a passing “joke,” McCabe assured “60 Minutes” that the discussions he heard were completely serious. McCabe also confirmed reports that there had been high-level talks about invoking the 25th Amendment against Trump.
Last year, in testimony before the House, former FBI chief counsel Jim Baker said that at least two of Trump’s Cabinet members were on board with that particular scheme before the discussions fell apart.
Under normal circumstances, nearly everyone in America would be horrified to learn that deep state operatives had held serious discussions about thwarting democracy in this manner. As it stands, it’s just another partisan issue that splits us right down the middle. Hell, just this week at a campaign rally, a Democrat with her sights set on Trump’s job endorsed the idea.
“My point here is that if they believe that Donald Trump cannot fulfill the obligations of his office, then they have a constitutional responsibility to invoke the 25th Amendment,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren said. “Their loyalty under law is not to him personally. It is to the Constitution of the United States and to the people of United States.”
Well, maybe they do things a little differently out on the rez, but here in the actual United States, it ought to take a little more than the firing of an incompetent FBI Director to overturn the results of an election.
This is a scandal of historic proportions, and it will never stop shocking us how willing the media/Democrats are to justify it.
They really thought the Obama Era would last forever, didn’t they?
