(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Following Wednesday’s first GOP primary debate, many people took to social media to question the claims of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis that he had been a U.S. Navy Sea, Air and Land (SEAL) Team member.

Tristian Snell, a lawyer, tweeted that DeSantis was not a Navy SEAL and that he had just worked as a Navy lawyer for a time. He further pointed out that during this time DeSantis had provided his legal services to a SEAL team commander.

The social media comments came after DeSantis spoke about his time in the military and the U.S. Navy SEALS during the primary debate. Specifically, he had been asked whether he was in favor of Americans needing to complete mandatory military service, to which he replied that he believes that service should be voluntary. He added that he had volunteered to serve and had been deployed in Iraq during his time in the army “alongside U.S. Navy Seals.”

While DeSantis did not explicitly state that he had been a member of the Navy SEALs, these remarks were still criticized by many online users.

President Joe Biden’s delegate and political strategist Lindy Li posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that contrary to the lies they were saying, DeSantis had not been a Navy SEAL.

Former President Donald Trump’s supporter Alex Bruesewitz also posted that it was odd of DeSantis to pretend to have been a member of the Navy SEAL. He added that many veterans had also told him that they had been bothered by his statements.
