In Sign #4,456 that maybe this coronavirus is the plague we deserve, a TikTok video showing a teenager gleefully going through her abortion procedure is burning up the internet airwaves. With more than 4 million views, the 21-second video shows “Ashley,” a teen girl, on her way to get an abortion with nothing but smiles, giggles, fist-pumps on her mind. Disturbingly enough, the video opens with the chyron: Abortion Time Take 2.
We are left to ponder how Take 1 might have gone.
The quick-cut video starts with the teen girls in a bedroom. The one behind the camera asks Ashley how she feels. Ashley replies, “Umm…”
It then cuts to the two in the car, pulling up to Planned Parenthood. Ashley giggles at the camera.
The next cut is inside the clinic’s waiting room, where the camera focuses on a couple hugging each other morosely. Text on the screen reads, “There’s two abortion moods.” The camera cuts over to Ashley, who pumps her fists excitedly in the air as if she’s getting ready to go on the world’s fastest rollercoaster.
The final scene is inside the abortion procedure itself. The camera lingers on a picture of an ultrasound while Ashley, on the table, smiles blissfully through the termination of her pregnancy.
This whole thing apparently speaks to America’s youth in a way that we hardly even care to think about.
Pro-life activist Lila Rose tweeted out the video, marveling at how many Community Guidelines it had violated: “Violent content,” “Depictions of deaths,” and “Dismembered humans” among them.
Rose said it was outrageous that her Live Action Response had been banned from TikTok while videos like this one were allowed to stay on and go viral. “This is blatant viewpoint discrimination and an egregious attempt to silence pro-life voices. TikTok must immediately reinstate our account in full and allow all voices on the platform.”
Actress Mindy Robinson said the video’s content and popularity was a sign of the times.
“This girl is laughing and having fun about going through her second abortion,” Robinson wrote. “THIS is what happens when you indoctrinate an entire generation into thinking the life of an unborn child holds the same decision value as ordering food through a drive thru window.”
A Twitter user named Marc Diana responded to Robinson, writing: “This is also why they shoot their classmates. They hold no value to life.”
We’d love to say that Diana’s comment is some sort of hysterical overreach, but when you watch this video…well, he makes a lot of sense.
