(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Senator JD Vance hit the campaign trail on Monday as Vice President Kamala Harris’ team scrambles to consolidate support for her.
Last week, former President Donald Trump announced Senator JD Vance (Ohio) would be his running mate, two days after an attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania.
On Monday, Vance kickstarted his campaigning with an afternoon rally in his hometown of Middletown, Ohio.
By Monday evening, Vance hosted another rally in Radford, Virginia.
Meanwhile, Harris made her first public address since Biden announced he wouldn’t seek reelection. She spoke at the White House on Monday morning during an event to honor NCAA college athletes.
At the beginning of her remarks, Harris addressed the elephant in the room: Biden’s absence.
She explained while “Biden wanted to be here today,” he was still on the road to recovery, and she would say “a few words about our president.”
She began her praise of Biden by stating his “legacy of accomplishment over the past three years” has been “unmatched in modern history.”
The Vice President also recalled how she met Biden through his late son Beau and declared the President “fights for the American people,” who are “deeply, deeply grateful for his service.”
The spotlight has been on Harris since Biden withdrew from the Presidential race on Sunday and subsequently endorsed her as his replacement. So far, campaign officials for Harris have already begun making hundreds of calls on the Vice President’s behalf, insisting Democratic National Convention delegates name her the Presidential nominee.
So far, Harris has also received the endorsement of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, both considered potential running mates.
