United Nations Criticizes U.S. for “Human Rights Violations” in Portland

In a searing critique of Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and the unhinged, violent thugs who have been trying to blind, maim, and murder federal agents in Portland, Oregon, the United Nations took a stand this week, harshly condemning America’s leftist thugs for using Molotov cocktails, bricks, hammers, and even lasers to inflict damage on the hardworking men and women of law enforcement. In a refreshing statement from the international organization, UN spokespeople–

Oh, sorry, we read it wrong.

Had you there for a minute, though, eh?

“There have been reports that peaceful protesters have been detained by unidentified police officers and that is a worry because it may place those detained outside the protection of the law and may give rise to arbitrary detention and other human rights violations,” said Liz Throssell, a U.N. human rights spokeswoman.

“The authorities should ensure that federal and local security forces deployed are properly and clearly identified and would use force only when necessary, proportionately and in accordance with international standards,” she continued.

Ah, the UN must be getting their facts from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, and the Black Lives Matter organization these days. We suppose that’s slightly better than the Islamist regimes they usually rely on for their news, but not by much.

As Fox News reports, this isn’t the first time the UN has made a questionable call on “human rights”:

The U.N. has been accused of being an inconsistent voice on human rights. The U.S. left the U.N. Human Rights Council in 2018 over concerns about the membership of the controversial body – which includes countries with poor human rights such as Venezuela and Eritrea. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, of which Throssell is a spokesperson, is a different body to the UNHRC.

Our kickoff to this article was meant as a wry joke, but if the UN actually wanted to regain some credibility, they would turn our satire into reality. Because the truth is: Human rights are being violated in Portland (and other American cities). They are being violated by leftist anarchists who think their anti-Trump, anti-white, anti-“fascist” message is the most important thing in the world right now. More important than federal buildings, more important than civil society, and more important than human lives.

Whether they even actually care about that message or whether they’re just using it as an excuse to break stuff and hurt people…we don’t know. We don’t even much care. What we care about is putting things back to order, and if that means a few of these “protesters” get their feelings hurt, then that’s what it means.

As for the UN, their slide into irrelevance continues unabated.
