(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – India and the United States have agreed to increase cooperation between the two nations on defense innovation and technology and have argued that they would look to eliminate the existing barriers in bilateral strategic trade.
Both governments had approved the statement, which came after the recent visit of Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser to India this week. This is the first time that a high-profile meeting between officials from the two nations has taken place since the re-election win of controversial Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month.
During his visit to India, Sullivan met Indian national security adviser Ajit Doval.
The statement noted that there has been progress in expanding the strategic cooperation between the two nations in many key sectors, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, telecommunications, clean energy, and quantum.
In the joint statement, it was argued that the two countries continue to be committed to ensuring that technology will be developed in a way that is aligned with democratic values and exhibits respect towards universal human rights. They also pointed out how important the partnership between the two nations is for Indo-Pacific strength.
Doval and Sullivan claimed that as the two countries move forward, they will particularly focus on technological innovation. It was noted that in the next few months, they will take “concrete action” to address the bilateral strategic trade, industrial cooperation, and technology.
President Biden is pushing for stronger relations with India, especially now that Modi has won a third term in office.
