TX Man Arrested for Viral Supreme Court Tweet

20-year-old Mikeal Archambault was arrested on Saturday after a tweet threatening to kill everybody in the Supreme Court went viral. The threat appears to have been made in response to the reversal of Roe v. Wade

“I’m finna kill everyone in the SUPREME COURT with my ak47,” read the now-deleted June 24th tweet. The tweet was made just hours after Roe was overturned.

Reposts of the tweet garnered significant attention online. Residents of The Colony, Texas took note of the location tag for The Colony and reported the tweet to local police. The Colony Texas Police Department (TCPD) arrested Archambault in connection to the tweet on June 26th, two days after the viral tweet.

Archambault is facing charges for making a terroristic threat causing fear of imminent severe bodily injury. Police say they did not locate any firearms on Archambault’s property.

Despite Archambault’s arrest, countless activists online have been making violent threats against Supreme Court justices without repercussions. Earlier this week, I highlighted how the same people who have accused me of “inciting violence,” have incited violence themselves in light of Roe’s reversal.

The Colony Police said that all threats, including online threats, are taken very seriously and encouraged community members to continue reporting any suspicious activity.

The arrest comes shortly after a California man was arrested for allegedly planning to assassinate Justice Kavanaugh. Death threats against Supreme Court Justices have increased over the past month following the May leak of the draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade and rose dramatically following last week’s actual reversal of Roe.

Archambault posted a $25,000 bond and has yet to receive a court date.
