(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Former President Trump, who is currently the front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination, made his first court appearance on Tuesday in connection to the 37 federal charges filed against him for allegedly mishandling classified documents after leaving the White House in 2021. Trump pleaded not guilty to all 37 charges, which include retention of national defense information, false statements, and conspiring to obstruct justice, that resulted from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigations.
Trump has repeatedly slammed this indictment, recently calling it a “sham.” In his latest remarks, he also noted that the Biden administration was engaging in “election interference” and that they were abusing their power with this indictment.
In the remarks Trump made from his property Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, he also criticized Smith calling him a “deranged lunatic,” and attacked Biden for the charges he has filed against his major political opponent. The former President also argued that he was facing “political prosecution” and that this situation was “like something straight out of a fascist or communist nation.”
Trump slammed Biden, stating that he would go down in history as the “most corrupt president” and that Biden and his band of “thugs, misfits, and Marxists” were attempting to destroy the country. As he pointed out, some of the charges against him fall under the Espionage Act, which is normally used for “traitors and spies,” and not for cases where a former President has held on to documents.
Finally, he pointed out that he was facing 400 years in prison for something that “just about every other president” had done.
