(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Trump revealed he has a new “viewpoint on life” and appreciation of God.

Former President Donald Trump made the remarks on Wednesday while attending the premiere of Citizens United’s film “Trump’s Rescue Mission: Saving America” in Milwaukee, where the Republican National Convention is being held.

It was the former President’s first public speech since an assassination attempt four days earlier at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

At the movie premiere, attendees chanted, “Fight! Fight! Fight!” as Trump took to the stage at Miller High Life Theater.

“You say, ‘How did that happen?'” Trump began, explaining he “got lucky,” adding, “God was with me.”

The former President continued. He stated that the July 13 attempt on his life was a “close call,” which “changes your attitude, your viewpoint on life,” adding, “I think you appreciate God even more.”

“Something happened. Not that it was pleasant. It wasn’t like it was a complete miss,” Trump continued, noting that “crime in our country is so bad,” and that his administration would “fix it.”

Trump accepted the GOP nomination for President on Thursday night, two days after his running mate, Senator J.D. Vance (Ohio), accepted the party’s nomination for Vice President.

During his speech at the movie premiere, Trump revealed he had tossed his original speech to accept the nomination after the assassination attempt and rewrote a speech focusing on unity.

Since the assassination attempt, Republican lawmakers have called on Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to resign after revelations law enforcement had been aware of a suspicious person, at least an hour before Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, attempted to take Trump’s life, fatally shot one rally goer and injured two others.
