Trump Puts Birther Issue to Bed With One Last Shot

If Donald Trump can lead the country the way he has masterfully led the mainstream media, we are looking at a hell of a ride with him in the White House. Forget about making American great “again”; with Trump in charge, we’ll make this country better than it’s ever been before.

Just look at the way he played those fools this week. They spent the last half of the week covering a non-story…just because Trump wanted them to. For no reason whatsoever, the “birther” controversy was back in the headlines this week. Well, not for no reason – for the simply reason that Trump decided that would be a good thing to talk about. So after 24 hours of hype, he delivered a press conference on Friday and told the world what his campaign had already said the night before. And every news network was hanging on every word.

“Hillary Clinton and her campaign of 2008 started the birther controversy. I finished it,” Trump said. “President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period. Now we all want to get back to making America strong and great again.”

And just like that, it’s settled.

Now, is this really what Trump believes? Is it the truth? Was Obama indeed born in Hawaii? Was he a legitimate president all along?

Those questions were not answered, and indeed they cannot be answered by any one man. The evidence of Obama’s curious citizenship circumstances is murky, which says a lot all by itself. But whether he ever was a natural born citizen or not, the fact remains that his tenure in office is coming to an end. It’s time to move on, and Trump is doing so with a flourish.

Best of all, of course, is how he is throwing this back on Hillary Clinton. The evidence for her being the original birther is ample. Her campaign never took full advantage of the controversy, but her staff unquestionably brought the questions up while looking for a way to beat Obama in 2008.

“Trump doubled down on lie-filled statement from his campaign last night & took no responsibility for his bigoted attacks on our President,” said Clinton’s campaign manager.

There’s no responsibility to take. No bigotry. No lies.

Actually, scratch that last part. There have been plenty of lies. They’ve come from Clinton and they’ve come from Obama. And they’ve come from the mainstream media that is so dedicated to bringing Trump down that they don’t realize that he’s been playing them all along.
