(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Ty Cobb, a former White House lawyer stated that he believes former President Donald Trump will be jailed over having violated the gag order in the federal election interference case. The order had been temporarily paused for a number of days but was reinstated on Sunday.
The gag order blocks Trump from making any comments about prosecutors, court staff, and potential witnesses in this case. This is not the only gag order that Trump has recently violated as this month alone he has been called to pay $15,000 in fines over having violated the limited order in his New York civil fraud trial twice.
In an interview on CNN on Monday, Cobb argued that he was fined $10,000 in New York and that is for a civil case. As he pointed out, this second fine was not connected to Judge Chutkan’s case. Instead, he argued that Chutkan was likely to come up with a much heavier penalty for the violation and that it was likely that Trump would have to spend a night in jail.
The trial in the election interference case is set to start in March. In the partial gag order, Chutkan wrote that there are times when it is necessary for the First Amendment rights of participants in a court case to be yielded in order for justice to be properly administered. As she pointed out this is also reflected in a precedent of the Supreme Court.
Trump has frequently attacked Chutkan calling her a “Trump hating” judge, Special counsel Jack Smith whom he refers to as “deranged” and other potential witnesses in the case.
