Trump Lays Out the Truth: White People Are Killed By Police, Too

Much to the handwringing consternation of liberals who would like the public to believe that American police officers are on a racist mission to shoot and kill every unarmed black man they can find, President Donald Trump laid out the plain truth of the matter in an interview with CBS News on Tuesday: The police kill plenty of white people as well.

In the interview, CBS News correspondent Catherine Herridge asked Trump what he had to say about the fact that African-Americans are “still dying at the hands of law enforcement in this country.”

“So are White people,” the president quickly replied. “So are white people. What a terrible question to ask. So are white people.”

Trump then laid out some additional truth: “More white people, by the way. More white people.”

This is NOT anything the left wants to talk about, because it would mean that their whole Black Lives Matter catchphrase actually is every bit as racist and divisive as it seemed at first glance. They don’t want to talk about it because they gain all of their power from telling minorities of every stripe – women, blacks, Hispanics, gays, transgenders, etc – that they have a common enemy: White, Christian, Straight America. And guess who’s got your back in that fight. Why, none other than the Democratic Party!

Just look how quickly CBS News jumped in to “correct” the president in their writeup of the interview:

Police departments are not required to report comprehensive data on police killings, but researchers have compiled statistics showing Black Americans are more likely to die at the hands of law enforcement than White people. One study published in 2018 found that Black men are roughly 3.5 times more likely to be killed by law enforcement than White men. Another study released in 2019 found that one in 1,000 Black men in the U.S. can expect to die at the hands of police over the course of their lifetimes.

A study by Harvard researchers published in late June found that the number of White people killed by the police between 2013 and 2017 was higher than any other demographic. But White people constitute a larger portion of the population than Black people, and the study also showed that Black people were three times more likely to be killed by law enforcement officers than White Americans.

Yeah. We read that three times, and the best we can come up with for a summary is: Trump is absolutely right. The fact that black people die at higher per-population rates is completely irrelevant, given that they have far more interactions with the police in the first place. The way CBS puts it, you’d think police are blundering recklessly into black homes and black-owned businesses just to kill whoever happens to be there. You wouldn’t think, oh, actually black people are committing far more crime than white people when you correct for population differences. But that’s exactly the truth.

Unfortunately, we now live in an era where uncomfortable truths are decried as racist. And so we all have to put our hands over our eyes and pretend that we don’t see these glaring facts that completely disprove the prevailing narrative.

Thankfully, we have a president who isn’t willing to do that.
