(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Sunday, former President Donald Trump warned GOP Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz who are both facing reelection that they might have a tough year ahead.
In 2024, there will be a total of 33 U.S. Senate seats on the ballot. Of these, 20 are seats belonging to Democrats, 10 to Republicans, and three to independents who generally align with the Democratic Party. Out of all the Republicans that are up for reelection, there are a handful that are major figures in the party. The Democrats are working to unseat them.
Democrat-aligned Senate Majority Political Action Committee (PAC) spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer noted that the Democrats were working to unseat the Republicans and highlighted that Hawley and Cruz, in Missouri and Texas respectively, were targets. Another major target is Rick Scott in Florida.
Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday to warn that the Democrats were targeting the two Senators. He added that they must be particularly careful as there are “stranger things” that have occurred.
The Democratic Party is also going to be focusing on increasing their efforts in West Virginia, a red state where Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat, has announced that he would not be seeking reelection. This makes it an easy target for the Republicans who want to pick up a scene.
Carly Cooperman, a Democratic pollster noted that the Senate map in the next election is challenging already for Democrats, and Manchin’s resignation would make everything harder. However, they still have the opportunity to win seats in Florida and Texas.
