(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Former President Trump blasted the Democratic Party for their attempts to remove New Hampshire from its first-in-the-nation primary spot during an appearance in the state on Saturday.

Trump during the New Hampshire Republican State Committee’s annual meeting in Salem, N.H., said that he has always been a defender of the state’s first-in-the-nation primary status and that he would never allow anyone Democrat or Republican to take the state’s status away.

A Democratic National Committee (DNC) rulemaking panel last month voted that South Carolina should become the first state to vote in the party’s primary election, ahead of Iowa and New Hampshire. Iowa has usually been the first state in the Democrats’ nominating calendar, with New Hampshire being the follow-up state with the first primary. However, according to the new calendar Nevada and New Hampshire would both be second, with Georgia and Michigan following.

This decision has caused outrage among many New Hampshire Democrats who have said that it would “wreak havoc” in the state. Despite New Hampshire Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (D) and Maggie Hassan (D) being angered by the changes, President Biden has endorsed the changes.

The DNC’s rules and bylaws committee will decide on the final calendar for the party in June following a decision to have the final decision delayed.

Trump has claimed that the reason Biden is looking to make the change is that he had finished fifth in the New Hampshire Democratic primary in 2020. He added this was probably an attempt to take revenge on the voters in the state by breaking what is essentially a political tradition.
