On Monday, Former President Donald Trump celebrated the announcement that CNN had fired Don Lemon, one of the network’s liberal hosts.
Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social to write: “Good News: ‘The dumbest man on television,’ Don Lemon, has finally been fired from Fake News CNN.” He then proceeded to state that the only thing he did not understand is why it had taken CNN so long to terminate Lemon’s employment.
Earlier that day CNN had put out an announcement that they were parting ways with Lemon. Lemon has claimed regarding the decision, has claimed that he was informed about being fired by his agent and not by the network’s management.
In recent months, Lemon had come under a lot of criticism following his controversial comments in February about GOP presidential candidate and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, 51, whom Lemon had claimed was “past her prime.” The comment was made after Haley advocated that politicians over the age of 75 should be required to take a mandatory cognitive test.
Following the comments, Lemon had to undergo “training” and was made to apologize to the staff.
Trump and Lemon have had an ongoing feud over the years, with Trump previously calling Lemon the “dumbest man on television” in 2017 on Twitter. In 2020, Trump stated that Lemon was “not a smart person” following a segment where the CNN host had mocked Trump and his supporters.
