(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – The U.S. attorney for Delaware, David Weiss, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, has now reached a plea agreement with Hunter Biden. As part of the agreement, Biden is going to plead guilty to two federal misdemeanor counts relating to his failure to pay his taxes. He is also going to face a different felony charge for gun possession, which could be dismissed if it falls within certain criteria.

The court documents were filed on Tuesday and according to two sources close to the case, the U.S. attorney has agreed to recommend probation for Biden. This is the first time that the Department of Justice, which is a part of the executive branch, has filed charges against the child of a sitting president. This is particularly noteworthy as the President is heading that branch of the government.

The move to charge Hunter Biden marks the end of a five-year probe by federal prosecutors, IRS officials, and FBI agents into Hunter Biden. Weiss has not been removed by the Biden administration, as they wanted to avoid having a U.S. attorney appointed by President Joe Biden oversee the criminal case brought against the president’s son.

Weiss’s office released a statement pointing out that in 2017 and 2018, Hunter Biden had received a taxable income in excess of $1,500,000 annually, but that he had not paid the income tax, which would amount to more than $100,000 for either of those two years. When it comes to the gun charge the statement pointed out that “from on or about October 12, 2018, through October 23, 2018” Hunter Biden had a firearm in his possession even though he was “an unlawful user of and addicted to a controlled substance.”
