(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability has issued a subpoena for Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to appear on July 22 for a hearing in which she will be questioned about the security lapses during Saturday’s former President Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. A shooter had been perched at a nearby rooftop during the rally and had tried to kill Trump.

In a letter, Chairman James Komer, R-Ky., noted that the Secret Service plays an important role in protecting the United States, safeguarding U.S. elections, presidential candidates, and nominees. He added that securing key facilities is one of the agency’s key missions.

He proceeded to note that the agency had fundamentally failed at its core mission considering the recent assassination attempt of Trump, who is the Republican presidential nominee in 2024 and a former President. He noted that despite the fact she has been allowed to speak with the media, both the Secret Service and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have thus far failed to provide any assurances regarding their appearance at the hearing by the Oversight Committee. Due to this, it was necessary that they send a subpoena.

On Tuesday, the committee had requested from the Secret Service access to communications and documents related to the July 18 assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump. On Wednesday night, an oversight panel spokesperson argued that Cheatle has agreed to comply with the subpoena and appear in the hearing.

The assassination attempt did not just lead to Trump being injured, but also to one attendee Corey Comperatore losing his life, while two others were wounded.
