The IRS Thinks Looters Will Report What They Stole From You

As the year comes to a close, it’s once again time to start thinking about taxes. Tax day is still months away, but for many people who aren’t very good at bookkeeping, tax season can be a stressful time of making sure you’ve got all the necessary documentation for the income you’ve earned and deductions you can take.

The tax code is, of course, incredibly complex, and many rely on professionals to prepare their taxes for them. Experts have a much better idea of the things you can claim to reduce your tax burden, and they can alert you to items you must declare as income if you don’t want to risk getting audited.

While you obviously wouldn’t be expected to know everything — or even most — of what the tax code says, there is something the IRS expects people to declare as income that is so absurd, you won’t believe it.

According to the IRS, “If you steal property, you must report its fair market value in your income in the year you steal it unless you return it to its rightful owner in the same year.”

I assure you, this is not Photoshop. You can see it for yourself by clicking here.

Does this mean that, if you’re a looter who exploited the riots in Minneapolis last summer or part of the smash-and-grab crime spree in San Francisco right now, the IRS actually expects you to declare those goods you stole as income?

Probably not, but since the IRS is a government agency, who knows? Still, the infamous mob boss Al Capone was ultimately brought to justice over tax evasion — not bootlegging, racketeering, or murder.

If Capone had only declared his illicit income and paid taxes on it, he may have lived his whole life a free man.

  1. Yep. I’m sure the looters will do that.

  2. ” Yes, I stole it but I will do the RIGHT THING and report it the IRS” ……………… RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The FOOLS at the IRS are as delusional as the “VILLAGE IDIOT IN CHEIF” in the white house !!!!!!!!!!!

  3. John DeJulius. You Nailed it in you comment. So true.
    Let’s Go Brandon!!

  4. Lol, what a joke. These low life 13%ers are the main ones committing 90% of all crimes in our country. I just wish they would climb back up the trees where they came from.

  5. Somewhere a village is missing its idiot.

  6. The IRS should be at the next smash and grab to itemize the stolen merchandise and issue a receipt. Forget the police. Leave it up to the IRS

  7. Ignorant ones stealing their way to success, animalistic type behavior of a moron.

  8. Has some socialistic government found a drug that addles the mind and somehow given it to the deep state government employees and all of the democrats. That are acting like complete idiots and the mentally ill. It boggles the mind.

  9. ARE YOU SERIOUS? NOW IF THIS IS TRUE, IT CONVINCES ME, MOST OF THE WORKERS AT IRS, ARE NOT TOO SMART!!! BUT THEN THIS ENTIRE ADMINISTRATION HAS PROVEN THEY ARE IDIOTIC.. HAPPY NEW YEAR..

  10. And they also want you to report all proceeds from your drug dealing businesses. Afterall, everyone need to pay their fair share, right!??! Dumbasses

  11. No wonder they want to hire all those new IRS agents

  12. “Government job” itself is practically an oxymoron. They are more like velvet lined welfare. Almost all government jobs are supposed idiot proof process jobs, where a simple process is followed regardless of purpose or logic. When the government does something for you the output will typically be a single typed sheet which will take two or more months to produce. It will take at least two iterations due to errors. Many if not most of these jobs are pointless.

  13. The Al Capone story is precisely the point. By openly warning you that you owe taxes on what you steal, the IRS criminalizes your failure to declare your stolen wealth.

  14. This is how they eventually were able to convict Al Capone of a crime and send him to prison. They couldn’t get the evidence on his murders and criminal activities. He was living the life of a King and owned cars, boats, and houses worth millions, but filed his Taxes as making just a small amount of income. Tax evasion was his downfall.

The rioters and looters, had better declare that income because the Feds have pictures of the rioters. The states declined to prosecute them, but the IRS will go after them and many of them will go to jail now for tax evasion.

  15. Does that mean Biden needs to report all that he has stolen from the American People?

  16. Pelosi needs to report all $ made from insider trading.

  17. sorry, but as a former government worker, I take offense at these remarks. I worked my butt off for 25 yrs, supervising an entire office for peanuts. I was expected to not only supervise, but pull MORE than the other workers. I worked 50-60 hrs a week, no overtime, and until I had built enough seniority, I worked EVERY holiday. I was LAST to put in for vacation time. I was NEVER out sick. I had to make legal decisions on claims, and had my decisions heard by the Supreme Court in my state. an accident on lunch hour ended my career, as the government refused to modify my work area. I had to retire, lost $500,000 in wages, as I was 5 years from full 30 yr pension. the folks who do my work now don’t do a fourth of what I did. and they are paid much more. there are some who do take this type of work to slack off, but the majority of the people I know/knew did work diligently.

  18. Check your spellinf id you are going to tell someone about theVillage Idiot In Cheif—- are your the village idoit who flunked spelling in 3rd grade,.???

  19. guess the IRS believes all thieves are honest too

  20. If Joey appointed them , they are probably stupid enough ro think that way !!

  21. If a theif is caught, and stolen items are found, then if repored to IRS, then the Service can revise the theiif’s return, or if not filed, the IRS can make up a return and show an exessive income. If ignored, the IRS can levy the theif’s assets, or do wnat they did to Al Capone.
