(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Senator Ted Cruz’s response to President Joe Biden taking a Christmas holiday trip to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands has been criticized online as many took the opportunity to point out that the Texas Republican had taken a vacation while his state was facing a big winter storm last year.
On Tuesday the White House announced that Biden had left Washington to visit the islands and spend time with his family until January 2. The President faced a lot of criticism of this decision with many questioning why he chose to travel during this time.
Currently, the U.S. is dealing with the aftermath of a deadly winter storm that led to over 30 people dying in Buffalo, New York. The heavy storm also led to many flight cancellations and delays which have led Americans stranded.
Former sportscaster turned political commentator, Michele Tafoya pointed out about Biden’s trip that it was not only a vacation, but it was a vacation somewhere warm when there were many people in the country freezing to death.
Cruz also took to Twitter to write, “Enjoy St. Croix” after information about the trip came out.
However, many critics who viewed this as a dig against the president pointed out that when Texas was hit by a heavy storm in February 2021, Cruz had opted to travel to Cancún, Mexico, instead of staying in the state. The Texas Republican admitted that in hindsight the trip was a “mistake” and that he had booked the trip because his daughters had requested it after their school was canceled for the week.
Tony Posnanski in response to Biden’s trip said, “It’s crazy but when you do your job, you can take a vacation,” adding “Now tell us again how was Cancun when thousands of your Texas constituents had no power and were freezing?”
Political commentator Brian Tyler Cohen also replied to Cruz writing: “You, of all people? Seriously?”
