(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) managed to fundraise $15 million in the third quarter which was more than any of his other rivals, apart from Trump. Still, his campaign is facing scrutiny over whether these funds will be enough for DeSantis to begin to close the gap between himself and former President Donald Trump. Many have also questioned whether DeSantis will manage to maintain the number two spot in the polls, as former U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s campaign has been growing swiftly in recent weeks.
While DeSantis raised a healthy amount in the third quarter, the federal campaign filings he submitted show that all the money he raised from July to September has already been spent. At the same time, former South Carolina governor Haley has benefitted from the two Republican primary debates which has led to her third quarter being very strong in terms of fundraising.
Both DeSantis and Haley also have to face the fact that Trump’s campaign continues to dominate the field financially as Trump raised over $45 million in the third quarter.
DeSantis’ campaign has claimed that the Florida Governor was in a very good position heading into the third Republican primary debate which is scheduled to take place in Miami. The campaign is also preparing for the Iowa caucus which is a bit less than three months away.
In a statement, Andrew Romeo, the campaign’s communications director, argued that they were the only campaign that had reserved television in the primary early states and that their fundraising would continue to increase during the fourth quarter.
