(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Tuesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson defended his push for an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden this week. As he argued, the Republicans were focused on abiding by the “rule of law” which was why they were committed to the vote. He further stated that this is what separated them from the Democrats who had moved forward with the “sham impeachment” of former President Donald Trump.

Fox News’ Chad Pergram questioned Johnson on his expectations for the inquiry. Johnson in response argued that he expected an impeachment vote to take place around spring. He further argued that the House GOP investigations into President Joe Biden’s involvement in the foreign business affairs of Hunter Biden have not been allowed to move forward because the White House blocked them from having witnesses come over or providing them access to thousands of pages of documents.

The resolution vote to formalize the impeachment inquiry has been scheduled for Wednesday. This vote is different from an impeachment vote.

As Johnson stated during the press conference of the House Republican Conference they do not have a choice but to fulfill their constitutional responsibility. He added that they needed to take the next step and that this was not a political but rather a legal decision.

As he pointed out people would have feelings about this situation either way and it would not be proper for them to “prejudge the outcome.” He added that this was not allowed under the Constitution which was why they needed to follow the truth where it led them.
