(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Retired Republican judge Jim Jones claimed on Monday that former President Donald Trump “can’t and won’t” be able to secure another victory in the presidential election.
Trump is currently the frontrunner in the Republican primary race and is considered the favorite for the GOP nomination. This is Trump’s third presidential campaign as he lost his reelection campaign in 2020 to President Joe Biden. The polls have shown that among Republican voters, Trump will often get around 50 percent of support – if not more – from respondents. The same polls place Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in second place, only able to poll at around 20 percent.
While there are people in the Republican party who have supported and endorsed Trump’s presidential campaign, there are also many in the GOP who have doubted that Trump is a viable candidate for 2024, especially given his loss in 2020 and the 2022 midterm election when his endorsed candidates performed very poorly.
On Monday, Jones – who had been the attorney general for Idaho between 1983 and 1991, and more recently served in the state’s Supreme Court from 2005 to 2017 – stated that he was concerned about a potential Trump nomination, adding that he does not have the correct approach on many issues and does not have a clear vision about what he would do in his second term in office. He clarified that his concern for his second term would be how to create an autocracy, adding that he was likely going to end up convicted in at least one of the criminal cases that he is either already facing or is expected to face in the coming weeks.
