In a welcome, surprising turn of events (or perhaps just a sign of how thoroughly the left has banished Hillary Clinton to the Phantom Zone), the leftist website PolitiFact slammed the former First Lady for lying about the effect that so-called “voter suppression” had on her 2016 presidential aspirations. While we’ve yet to see PolitiFact award any Democrats a “Pants on Fire” rating for claiming that Stacey Abrams is the real winner of the 2018 Georgia governor’s race, at least we can rest comfortably knowing that – in some rare instances – these biased fact-checkers will actually call Democrats out on their deception.
In their piece, PolitiFact noted that, as far back as May 2017, Clinton had claimed that thousands of people had been kept away from the voting booths due to voter suppression efforts on the right.
“The best estimate,” she said at the time, “is that 200,000 people in Wisconsin were either denied or chilled in their efforts to vote.”
PolitiFact knocked her down for that claim back then, advising that this “best estimate” came directly from a Democrat PAC and that there was no way to determine how many voters were deterred by voter ID laws in the state. They did not go on the state the obvious, which is that voter ID laws are, in no way, shape, or form, designed to suppress the vote. That remains the kind of lie you can still get away with on the left.
Clinton went to the well again this March.
“I was the first person who ran for president without the protection of the Voting Rights Act,” she said. “It made a difference in Wisconsin, where the best studies that have been done said somewhere between 40,000 and 80,000 people were turned away from the polls because of the color of their skin, because of their age, because of whatever excuse could be made up to stop a fellow American citizen from voting.”
Clinton was awarded another “Pants on Fire” rating for that ludicrous suggestion. Certainly, there is no evidence whatsoever that anyone in America, much less Wisconsin, is being turned away from the polls because of their skin color.
But despite having her lies exposed on two separate occasions, Clinton won’t stop blathering.
“Experts estimate that anywhere from 27,000 to 200,000 Wisconsin citizen voters, predominantly in Milwaukee, were turned away from the polls,” she said in a speech on Tuesday. “That’s a lot of potential voters.”
One more time, PolitiFact nailed her with a “Pants on Fire” rating.
“Hillary Clinton just can’t quit Wisconsin,” they wrote. “Or, more specifically, can’t quit blaming its voting system for her 2016 electoral defeat. Clinton’s numbers still aren’t anywhere close to accurate.”
This is a woman who, three full years later, still can’t accept that she was beaten. And to deny that reality, she’s willing to tell whatever lie she has to in order to serve her purposes. Well, they don’t call her Crooked Hillary for nothing.
