(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker, during an interview with CNN called the Republican heckling during the State of the Union address just “showbiz.”

Throughout the State of the Union address, there were many in the Republican conference who shouted and heckled while Biden delivered his speech. Most notably, when Biden spoke about how certain members of the GOP wanted to sunset Social Security and Medicare, many GOP members started shouting to show that it was not true.

Pelosi during the interview said that the Republicans were “protesting too much” because they knew that they had been the ones to put the programs on the table when discussing spending cuts necessary in order for the debt ceiling to be increased. She added that the GOP members were trying to dismiss that was the case. She continued to say that if Sen. Rick Scott [R-Fla.] had won the Senate leadership position that would be one of the key things on the agenda. This is why Pelosi called the Republicans’ position during the address “showbiz.”

Scott had presented a proposal last year which would require all federal legislation to expire every five years. As he argued following that any legislation that was worth keeping could be passed through Congress again.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has often said that both Social Security and Medicare are not on the table when it comes to the spending cuts that the GOP wants to get approval on in order to agree to an increase of the debt ceiling.
