(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – David Axelrod, a former senior adviser of the Obama administration remarked regarding a recent Wall Street Journal poll that found that President Biden’s approval records were at a record low, that this was “very dark” for his 2024 presidential campaign.

On Saturday, Axelrod commented on the Wall Street Journal poll during the “Hacks on Tap” podcast with political consultant Mike Murphy and Robert Gibbs, the former Obama White House press secretary.

The Wall Street Journal poll showed that former President Donald Trump currently has a lead in a hypothetical matchup with Biden, winning by 47 percent while Biden only received 43 percent of support. In a hypothetical ballot including five other independent candidates, Trump is leading with 37 percent to 31 percent.

The WSJ poll also found that Biden’s approval rate was only at 37 percent, while 61 percent of those who responded disapproved of how the president was handling his responsibilities.

As Axelrod pointed out, the fact that the approval ratings had dropped, was not positive. He added that what he was worried about was that these were the types of things that emerged after the people had already rationalized their votes.

Axelrod further pointed out that there was only one issue in which Biden came above Trump in the poll and that was abortion. However, the majority of respondents appeared to agree with Trump on issues including inflation, the economy, and border security.

The poll took place between November 29th and December 4th, and it included 1,500 registered voters, with a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points.
