(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – The Joint Terrorism Task Force of the New York City Police Department and the FBI have joined forces in the investigation into Hamas’ funding following the October 7th surprise terrorist attack by the group against Israel.
An NYPD high-ranking official stated that Hamas funding was something that they have been looking into for a long time and that since the attack their efforts have been intensified. The source further told the New York Post that the task force was also examining whether there were any threats in New York City.
This week during a Congress hearing FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress members that the FBI had launched a number of probes into individuals who are connected to Hamas, following the recent deadly attack on Israel. However, he noted that thus far they have not located any specific threats. He further informed the House Homeland Security Committee that the number of gotaways at the U.S. Southern border was of “great concern” to the FBI.
Wray was asked about the moves the FBI could take to guarantee that suspected terrorists were not among those who entered the country escaping custody. In response, Wray stated that the FBI was “aggressively using all 56 of our joint terrorism task forces” as a result.
Two weeks ago during a different hearing, Wray had argued that Hamas was possibly the biggest terror threat to the United States since ISIS. He added that following the October 7th attacks there are many terrorist organizations and violent U.S. extremists who have called for attacks against the United States.
